A Rough-Legged Hawk just moments before taking off from its perch. These raptors pass through central Alberta in the fall during their migration from their Arctic breeding grounds in search of warmer climates in the United States. I was fortunate to see a number of "roughies" during this past fall during the raptor migration survey I conducted in the Drumheller area.
