The old hare After an evening following a sandhill crane, which gave me few opportunities to photograph it, I was on my way home as the best light of the day comforted me from my missed appointment with this beautiful species. With an almost intuitive reflex, I noticed small balls of hair moving on the edge of the forest. So I walked towards them as slowly as possible despite the light that was rapidly disappearing. The more I advanced, the more I counted them. There were dozens of snowshoe hares feeding on fresh spring shoots. I crawled slowly on the ground, so as not to frighten them. For those of you who have ever come across a hare, you know that already being on the ground at their height would normally have made them run away quickly. I felt that they didn't pay much attention to me if I respected the rule of not making any sudden movements. They were all very peculiar because their coats still had white parts. Some were all brown with only white ears. Others were spotted, it was really unreal. I had now understood where the proximity limit was, which seemed to be two meters. A reckless man even ran towards me and came to eat within one meter. I savor these moments without taking pictures, it's so unique. The sun that was almost down gave me the light I was looking for to take pictures of these small mammals. However, it was once it was down that I had the chance to take the portrait of the one with whom I spent the most time. So wild normally, and for that brief moment in the spring, they seemed fearless of my presence. The images I will present to you in the coming days are proof that there are small moments of the year when if you come across a certain species in a certain place, they will let you accompany them like an old friend.
