I was birding by myself at Snake River Line near Pembroke. I could hear Virginia rail calling so I stayed very still. Suddenly, this short-tail weasel poked his head out of a hole in a dead tree tree and and observe me for several minutes. He seem to have no fear at all. Short-tail weasles are voracious predators. These weasels are chiefly nocturnal and not often seen during the day. What a treat!
