Sly Fox

We have only one fox in our suburban area, and it is extremely elusive. After months without a single sighting, I figured this one had moved on to another location. However, while walking my dog one autumn day, the fox suddenly emerged from the brush and ran across a soccer field with a squirrel in its mouth. Luckily, I bring my camera wherever I go, and was able to snap a few quick shots before the fox disappeared into the dense woods. While our squirrel population sadly lost one member, it will hopefully keep the fox healthy as winter approaches.

Nap Time

Little Loon

A loon and its baby taking a swim in a lake in the Gatineau. While baby loons are often perched on their parents' backs, this one was braving the waters for itself, with very parents close behind. I was careful not to get too close, as loons are extremely protective of their young, and have quite extravagant defence mechanisms. Luckily, my kayak did not seem to disturb their morning swim.
