Great Grey Owls love to catch the last rays of evening light and search for their supper.
This male was happily hopping for berries and other treats until it noticed my presence upon which it went into 'camouflage' mode by standing very still.
Little Otter wanted to play with Magpie but Magpie was only interested in begging a handout of fresh fish!
Although there are bird feeders around my back yard, a flock of Bohemian Waxwings prefer a rogue self seeded mountain ash that has grown wild through my fence. The deer come every night to eat the bird feed. Moral: nature knows best and continues to create a wildlife sanctuary on a urban yard.
Once nearing extinction, conservation efforts have been very successful in protecting thiese amazing creatures and encouraging growth and health of this unique species. So honoured to see them on their prairie staging grounds during their annual migration from Wood Buffalo in Alberta to Texas.
