While being attacked from behind and another coming in from the front this Bald Eagle needs to make a quick decision. For a large bird they have amazing maneuverability in the air, my sequence of shots shows this one ducking under the frontal attacker pulling the one behind with it. I guess the juvenile coming in from the right needs a little more experience.
Shot at 1/8000 while shooting into the sun. This kept the brightness down and made for an interesting "sunrise after the sunrise" photo. Taken at the Courtenay, BC estuary with Trumpeter Swans, Canadian Geese and some ducks shown in the photo. I liked how this technique displayed the layers of clouds in the upper part, the mist in the middle and the sparkles from the sun in the lower section.
Macro shot of Baby Garden spiders, Araneus Diadematus /Cross Orbweaver. They are tiny, smaller than a sesame seed, but they make up for it in numbers. They like to clump together in a group and zip along their web highway.
Sunrise in the Courtenay estuary, BC, always a good place and time to see some spectacular sights. This place is special with the variety and number of birds that pass through here each year. Trumpeter Swans, Canadian Geese, Ducks, Hawks, Eagles and the list goes on. A special place to visit.
In all my years of taking photos of Bald Eagles, I find this shot to be special. Getting a shot of six soaring and searching together in the frame is unusual and three juveniles and three adults together makes it better. I wonder what they could pick up if they got together?
