I almost missed this Eastern Screech Owl the first time I passed by the area. A timely double take allowed me to discover a very well camouflaged grey morph right at sunset. It took flight and began hunting shortly after this photo.
This little owl can be described as small, but ferocious. The Northern Saw Whet Owl getting ready to hunt after sunset. It had to clear a pellet before beginning the night.
An uncommon visitor to southern Ontario, this Northern Hawk Owl decided to fight for balance on a cat tail for about 30 seconds instead of taking the much easier route of sitting on a stable branch. There were plenty of more stable options around, but he wasn't having it. I'm glad he took the difficult route.
Full sunning mode engaged for the Barred Owl. It was enjoying the last of the sunlight right before sunset.
