I was driving along Brock Street South in Whitby, Ontario when I noticed this black wild Cottontail rabbit grazing along a tree line at the side of the road. I stopped and took several images. At first I thought it was a domestic rabbit that had gotten loose. When I returned home and researched it I learned it was a melanistic Eastern Cottontail.

This was taken after a neighbor told me that she thought a red fox may have had a littler of pups underneath an old abandoned house trailer at the rear of her rural property. In the weeks following I made several trips over to her property to investigate and to photograph the pups when they emerged.
