Sunbathing Heron

The photo of this Great Blue Heron, was captured on August 14, 2020 while Kayaking on Harris Lake in the Municipality of McDougall Ontario. I paddled over to an island near my cottage to see what this guy was up to. He had been wandering around through the trees near the shore. When I got to within about 200 feet from shore he struck this sunbathing pose. He was clearly drying his feathers in the sun after partaking of a satisfying meal. The shot was taken from my Kayak, approximately 200 Feet away using a Canon 5D Mk III camera, Canon EF 70 - 300mm lens at 300mm, 1/500 sec. at f7.1, ISO 200
