Curious or maybe looking for a snack, this female Mallard strode over to me with confidence.
I was struck by how clearly each feather was defined, and by how perfectly the water beaded upon them.
The bright colours of the Western Tanager are hard to miss, and this one appeared in my backyard as I was enjoying a morning coffee on the deck.
The striking purple bells of the Bush Pestemon on this mountain road appeared to be looking out to the reservoir across the valley.
Robert's Lake is an IBA in the Okanagan. I like to visit in early spring to see if the Blackbirds have arrived. On this day, there was only one Blackbird, but plenty of Mallards, in spite of the fact the lake was still mostly frozen.
