Cattail Sunset

Went out for a walk in the evening with my camera hoping to see something. On the way back I notice these cattails just perfectly set up for a photo. So I knelt down and snapped a few shot and this is what I got.

Listen to this!!

I was taking photos of the Wilson Snipe singing it’s beautiful songs, when this little Savannah’s Sparrow decided it wanted in on the action and put on a show! Nothing better then watching birds singing in the summer.

Patiently waiting

I was working at a golf course and always brought my camera with me. When I was going to take out the trash, I scared something in the trees that took off and flew up a little higher onto the hill in the trees. I had no clue what it was, it was chubby and very small, almost looked like a ball on a branch. I took a wide birth and walked up the hill so i could have the light behind me facing the owl. When I got set up and looked into the view finder I was stunned!! I never thought I would see a Northern Pygmy Owl in my life let alone every day for the whole winter. A moment I will never forget.

I believe I can fly

I went out before sunrise to look for owls in the Okanagan Valley when I came across this pond. Their was a few different kind of ducks on the pond but this Barrow’s Goldeneye caught my eye. I crouched down along the pond and it didn’t take long for the Goldeneye to take off and follow a few females that were flying by. I did not know if I got the shot until I got home and put the card into the computer.
