I was out for a walk in one of our Provincial Parks when I came across this coyote who was doing some hunting as the sun was starting to set. While they were aware of my presence, after this brief look, the coyote returned to the hunt.
This coyote was out looking for food as the sun was beginning to set in Lois Hole Provincial Park near St. Albert, Alberta. With a chill in the air, you could see each breath as it left the coyote's nose.
It's always an interesting when a bird is watching you every bit as much as you are watching it. This Northern Hawk Owl seemed quite intrigued with me and gave me a couple of these interesting looks while I was checking it out.
It's always a thrill to find a bird for the very first time. This Northern Saw-whet Owl was definitely a highlight of the year for me!
It's rare for me to find a Great Horned Owl at eye level, so it was a real treat to find this one as the sun was setting behind it in Lois Hole Provincial Park. In the moments that followed I had a chance to watch it successfully grab a muskrat from the nearby Sturgeon River.
