On a trip to the mountains we pulled out at Hector Lake on a grizzly fall morning. The tall green pine trees reflected perfectly on the green lake waters, broken up only by tiny drops of rain lighting up the lake with little sparkles.
I saw this patch of Red Paintbrush on a steep hillside and climbed down to photograph them with the lake and mountains reflecting behind. Paintbrush is one of my favourite summer wildflowers.
On a beautiful hike through a mossy forest in the mountains I encountered this tree stump with every inch covered in lichens, mushrooms and pixie cups. It reminded me of something straight out of a fairy tale.
A voracious predator of backyard plants, the Lily Beetle is actually strikingly beautiful. This one was on an anemone flower in my parents backyard, much to my dads ire.
There is a tiny wetland in the heart of Edmonton's Industrial south. Despite being vegetated by many specious of noxious weds, including this spurge plant, many native birds and insects find refuge and flourish here, including this Ichneumon wasp.
