Loon

A few days camping in crown land around Algonquin Park and this beautiful Loon spent some time with near my campsite. For me camping is not the same if I can’t hear at least once a loon calling. It is unique and so magical.

A peaceful Northern flicker

A peaceful Northern flicker with its eyes closed. This photographed was made during the bird migration in June 2020. Birds come to Rondeau Provincial Park to spend the summer and breed.

Prothonotary warbler singing

Prothonotary warbler. I took this shot on May 2020 during the weeks of the bird migration. This is one of the most beautiful birds I have ever saw and sadly it seems that it will be harder to find this little guys around as the population is decreasing over the years. The only numbers I could find are from 2005 and it estimates 28 to 35 individuals. I really hope it increases.

Red-bellied woodpecker vs Blue Jay

Blue Jays and Red-bellied are two very dominant birds. They both have a strong attitude and some how they can be bullies to other birds. This photo I really like to see this two different birds facing each other. There is some tension in the eyes of the red-bellied.

The Presidential Black Squirrel

This black morph of the eastern gray squirrel is definitely a beauty. Back in 1902 Canada took 8 of these individuals from Rondeau Provincial Park to the White House in the USA. Today it is possible to find descendants of Rondeau's black squirrels near the White House.
