Great grey owl on fire

This great grey owl has been seen at the west end of Ottawa for a couple of months in 2019. In an evening, the owl came out of the woods to hunt just before sunset. The owl stopped on a steel bar for a moment when the sun was setting. The sun through the woods was just behind the owl when the strong wind blew his feathers.

Canada geese in the autumn

In an early morning when the leaves were changing colours in autumn, a group of Canada geese took off from Rideau river at Ottawa and flew by the maple tree with red leaves. What a typical beautiful day of autumn in Canada!

Love in the forest

When the barred owlets fledged in the forest, the mother barred owl often flew back to the owlet to preen the feathers of the owlet and show her love and caring during the golden hour.

Snowy owl at sunset

Several snowy owls migrate to Ottawa during the winter every year. I went out for birding in a winter day. I saw this female snowy owl in the corn field which was covered by some snow when the sun was setting. I laid down on the field to photograph this snowy owl while the sun was setting at the back of the owl.

Osprey family

Every year a couple of ospreys will come to Iroquois, Ontario, build a nest near the St. Lawrence River and hatch their several chicks and raise them until they can live independently. I went to see the osprey family on Father's day of 2020. During the dinner time, the osprey father brought a fish back to the nest, passed it to the mother osprey and left the nest. The whole period only lasted for several seconds. I was lucky to capture the osprey family portrait during this period. The first left in the photo is the mother osprey with the fish.
