Buck Duel

I have long hoped to capture a couple of bucks battling. I noticed one buck among a few does and thought “jackpot, I can finally photograph a buck!”. After respectfully following this majestic buck around he approached another buck lying down and i couldn’t believe my luck. Sure enough they interlocked antlers and began battling allowing me tp capture this photo.

Goslings

These fluffy goslings were certainly the stars of my outing that day. I wasn’t anticipating seeing them as I went for a stroll through a local park. I noticed a bit of commotion in the pond so my curiosity got the better of me. Upon my approach I noticed two geese hissing and splashing in the pond and off to the right side another Canadian goose escorting its little ones safely out of the pond.

Baldy In Flight

This bald eagle was rather patient with me allowing me to approach it. I’d take a few steps and pause and repeat until finally it had had enough. I never like to push animals out of their comfort zone. I’d much rather them be comfortable then feel threatened by my presence. In this case I came a bit too close and the eagle felt the need to evade. By doing so it allowed me to capture this photo of it departing the tree it was perched upon.

Pretty House Fly

I’m not much for flies but this one sure looked good perched among these flowers. I love the small intricate details that macro photography permits. Seeing these small objects and living things around us on a larger scale is truly awe-inspiring.

Pounce

While observing this coyote hunt its prey in the field, I was hoping to capture it in the action of pouncing. It trotted around a fair bit while pausing and listening and watching intently for any signs of motion. After a long pause it had its gaze fixed and began to pose as if it was going to pounce. I held the shutter and waited and was rewarded with this mid-pounce image.
