Being midwinter, all of the favorite watering holes for Canada Geese have frozen over. This has left the Thompson River as one of the few remaining places with open waters in the BC interior. Fortunately, this has provided wildlife with the relative safety of the open water and an abundance of food.
An explosion of northern anchovies on the B.C. coast attracts hundreds of seagulls, that in turn, take advantage of the easy pickings — occasionally diving into deeper water to get the bigger fish.
