Rest before Refuelling

This photo was taken at the English Gardens in Assiniboine Park. It was early fall and a few hummingbirds remained in the gardens to fuel up before embarking on their long journey south to their winter home. This pretty female Ruby Throated Hummingbird was enjoying a short rest from refuelling among the beautiful blooms.

Kisses for Baby

I could not believe my eyes as I observed these two Great Horned Owls interacting. The mother was so tender and loving towards her Owlet. I watched them preen each other and display affection through snuggles and birdie beak kisses. It was an amazing and touching exchange to witness.

Standing in Guard for Thee

The Canada Jay is an excellent choice for our National bird. Their fun and friendly disposition make them a joy to watch. I spotted a family of Jays while driving through Whiteshell Provincial Park. This is one of those straight out of camera photo moments that captured the beauty and poise of these playful little birds.

On the Hunt

This is was my first year observing and photographing our provincial bird the Great Grey Owl. I am completely enamoured by their beauty and fierce ability to hunt. This photo was taken as the majestic owl silently swooped in on its unsuspecting prey.
