Taking Flight

I was fortunate to live at Nadsilnich (West) Lake south-west of the city of Prince George, BC for 13 years. Some years a Great Blue Heron would visit the lake to fish. I was out in my kayak when I saw it perched on an overhanging log at the end of the lake. I very slowly and quietly paddled into the Lily Pads and when I knew I was close enough to get a shot. I waited. And I waited. Then it took flight.

Moose Kiss

I was fortunate to live at Nadsilnich (West) Lake south-west of the city of Prince George, BC for 13 years. One evening, in early November, I was out for a paddle in my kayak when I spotted these two moose at the edge of the lake. After a long, very slow paddle I managed to get close enough without disturbing them. Then to my amazement they turned to each other and had this moment.

Spread Your Wings and Fly

I was fortunate to live at Nadsilnich (West) Lake south-west of the city of Prince George, BC for 13 years. Sometimes the Bald Eagles would perch on an old Cottonwood by our lakeshore. This Immature Bald Eagle did not fly away when I went to the shoreline. So I set my camera and waited for it to take off, hoping to get a shot when it left the branch and spread its wings into flight. After 20 to 30 minutes, and very sore arms, my patience paid off.

I See You

I was fortunate to live at Nadsilnich (West) Lake south-west of the city of Prince George, BC for 13 years. Several pairs of eagles lived at the lake. I knew one had landed in the birch trees on the shoreline, but I couldn't see it until I lay down on my deck and found a clearing between the birch branches.

Grace in Motion

I was fortunate to live at Nadsilnich (West) Lake south-west of the city of Prince George, BC for 13 years. In the Spring and Fall, Trumpeter Swans would stop to rest and feed on their migration route. Wild Swans are very sensitive and it is difficult to get near them. I sat very still behind some bushes on the shoreline and waited, hoping that this beauty would slowly come towards me.
