Baby Blues
While walking around a local lake one night, I happened upon a family of magpies feeding and playing in a small clearing amongst the trees. As I sat watching/photographing them, this young one became increasingly inquisitive and would come ever closer with each short hop. I can only assume that, as it seemed to be looking for a handout, it was wondering why I, like its parents, was not feeding it. Luckily, I was able to get this shot of it demanding food of me before it and the rest of its family flew off into the trees and out of the reach of my lens.
One Step at a Time
This semipalmated plover spent several hours with me as he cautiously poked around a marshy area of Niven Lake looking for food.
