I was just getting ready to send a photo to my daughter of chickadees on my hand when one flew up and landed on my phone! I thought to myself, "Well THAT would be a cool shot, but he's on my phone... "Fortunately I was able to swing my DSLR around my shoulder and capture the scene with my real camera!
I like to paddle out to a Bald Eagle's nest in the summer where I just sit in my kayak and take in the nature of it all. Mama eagle was on this gnarly tree branch near the nest keeping an eye on things while Papa was out hunting.
I was fortunate to be able to watch these Bald Eagle Chicks from hatching until they left in October. Regular kayak paddles out to their nest area gave a great opportunity to watch them grow! This one was enjoying some sun on the marshy river reeds.
I followed the long flight of this Snowy Owl where she glided ever so gracefully from a tree to the ground where she swooped to snatch her prey. Love her intense stare and outstretched talons as she anticipates the prize!
I never fail to marvel at these majestic pileated woodpeckers of the forest! Pleased that she landed right in front of me to pose for a photo. I had to comply. :)
