While travelling along a country road I found this Rough-legged Hawk. As it flew you could see one leg dangling. When it landed you could tell it was favouring it’s right leg. We tried calling an animal rescue, but because the bird was still flying well, there was nothing they could do to help.
While watching some Great Egret’s fish along a creek, I was able to capture a near miss.
While travelling along a country road I found this Eastern Screech Owl. It was just starting to wake up. The natural camouflage is amazing!
I was at a local pond taking pictures of shorebirds when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. This Wilson’s Snipe had walked up behind me feeding along the shore. It was amazing being able to watch it walk along doing its typical bounce walk only a few metres away.
I was lucky to watch a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers raise two youngsters. Here dad has arrived and both young want the first bite.
