A beautiful big Bumblebee licks his way through the golden blossoms! He is so heavy that the tiny flower stem bends under his weight... however can he fly!
Fields near Grande Prairie, Alberta, in early spring, appear to be brown and dead until closer inspection! Once a few Prairie Crocus are located follow their trails to fields in protected parkland and pastures - filled with carpets of crocuses. Layers and layers of inspiring blossoms.
Mid October in Northwestern Alberta, ponds and fields fill with migrating Trumpeter Swans and after a meal in a nearby harvested pea field this rowdy crew came back to the slough for a drink and a bath. The water was frothy with fighting for territory!
A magnificent Great Grey Owl allowed us to witness him hunting along a remote rural road and I was super lucky to be able to capture him the moment he decided to lift off from his perch in the pine forest!
We happened upon a beautiful young Grizzly grazing on dandelions along a remote highway near Tumbler Ridge, BC. Allowing for the safety of himself and ourselves, we remained at a safe distance and in our vehicle, however using my long lens (600mm) I was able to capture a few moments of him munching on his salad and then this one as he reminded us he knew we were there. When I looked at the image on my computer I was surprised to see how many mosquitos were trying to cozy up to him... so maybe he's telling them to buzz off as well! :)
