"Grackle Contemplation" by Debbie Oppermann. Even though the Common Grackle is a noisy nuisance, it is a beautiful black bird with a blue head, glossy iridescence in the right light and just the right amount of arrogance! The pond at the arboretum in Guelph Ontario Canada was home to not just the usual Red Winged Blackbirds but also the Grackles.This beautiful black bird was perched on a stump and seemed to be lost in thought.
