"Turkey Walk" by Debbie Oppermann. Driving on rural roads near Fergus Ontario Canada, I was pleased to see a few wild Turkeys feeding in a roadside field at the edge of a forest. Of course as soon as I stopped they headed towards the stand of trees and were showing their backside to me. Wild turkeys were extirpated (locally extinct) from Ontario as a result of habitat loss and over-hunting. Reintroduction efforts began in 1984. Turkeys are now a common sight in southern Ontario and they are continuing to expand their range. Did you know that turkeys have over 6,000 feathers and that they can run up to 19km per hour? They are classed as ground birds but they do fly up into trees to roost for the night.

"Winter Walk" by Debbie Oppermann. On this lovely snowy winter day in Guelph Ontario Canada, near the Speed River, these two lovely Mallard ducks were out for their winter walk in the snow. They looked so comfortable waddling along looking for food.
"Look Away" by Debbie Oppermann. This beautiful, colorful White Throated Sparrow perched on the Spruce Tree branch in spring in Guelph Ontario Canada is quite attractive with the black eyestripe, yellow lores, black and white striped head and chestnut and gray plumage. White Throated Sparrows tend to stay near the ground scratching through leaves and more looking for food, but not all the time as you can see with this one perched and looking away from the camera. Maybe a little shy?
