To me, this photo is a metaphor for this whole year. The birds coming out of the darkness of the pandemic and swimming toward the light of hope that we will see an end to this in early 2021. But there still appears to be darkness ahead. I caught these swans on a small river in the rain. They were going upstream in the low light when the sun briefly broke through and gave me this photo. I thought of the metaphor right away. I managed to get a few images before the clouds hid the sun again.
