The advantage of observing a bird or animal for a long time is that you get to learn their behaviour. In this instance, this juvenile Great Blue Heron was preening and I knew it would shake its head to clear its throat at some point. It doesn't always do it but it will most of the time so I would rather be ready than sorry.
