When all the others flew South for the Winter, this solitary Great Blue Heron decided to stick around here well into the snowy months. I photographed the heron every day for weeks, watching it walk through the snow to find pockets of open water, where it would hunt for hibernating frogs. I took this image as the heron was passing through two snow banks, giving the impression of floating in the clouds
