I came across a porcupine den while out hiking in the local woods last Winter. There were porcupine tracks in the snow and gnawed branches to follow, the tracks eventually led to piles of porcupine scat around the base of a big tree. I looked up but couldn't see any porcupines in the branches, then as I walked around the back of the tree I was greeted by one of two porcupines that were living inside a large hole around six feet off the ground.
