On this late spring morning I was in my kayak on the way to photograph some eagles that were on a nearby island. This seagull was directly in my path so I put my paddle down, picked up my camera and drifted toward it. I wasn't expecting to get much of a shot, but when it decided that I was a bit too close, I shot off a burst of images and captured the moment of takeoff.
