A local Heron that decided not to fly south for the Winter has been hunting for its food in any remaining open water. On this day the heron had been searching for air bubbles of any frogs that were hibernating beneath the mud. I took this image as the heron located and dived for a hibernating frog. As the mud and leaves were pulled up from the water, this frog came up with it, struggling with the heron. As the heron attempted to wash the mud from the frog, it leapt away again only to be recaptured and after several attempts, finally swallowed by the bird.
