Keeping social distance

Ducks are common visitors to this swamp, who generally swim in flocks either to cool off their body heat or find food. This group of ducks has taken a break from their swim and were seen perched on this fallen branch. However, keeping up with the current trends, they seem to be maintaining their social distance.

Solitary Hunter

I was surprised to see this very distinctive coloured beautiful bird come flying and perch on a tree right in front of me as if it wanted to pose for a photograph. I never had the opportunity to photograph a green heron before. I later learned that green herons are one of the rare ‘tools using’ birds that drop smaller insects on the water to lure fish. So, it wasn’t me that the bird was attracted to, but the spider web on the branch it landed on.

Lost?

During one of my morning excursions in my hometown Bradford, I was amazed to see this young white-tailed deer come running through a farm field towards me. As I kept clicking my camera, it ran past me and disappeared on the other side of the field, possibly looking for a lost family member.

Making ripples

On a beautiful summer evening, during a walk through a conservation area, we came across this beaver having a feast. It was amazing to watch how this beaver constantly dove underwater and surfaced with a mouthful of food. The beaver’s action created beautiful ripples throughout the pond.

Phoebe and the spider

The spider thought it was a good spot to spin its web, so insects passing by might get caught. However, it was this eastern phoebe that flew by and landed on the branch and the spider ended up being its meal.
