While I was taking photos of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep I was looking to get a rear view of a ram looking out towards the mountains. I did get a few of those, but I like this one where the ram turned his head glancing back.
I went out looking specifically to photograph woodland caribou and came across a group of five. Two of them momentarily locked horns when they got close to one another while grazing, providing this photo opportunity.
I was privileged to be able to observe a herd of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep for over an hour. They were busy grazing and I was looking for opportunities to photograph where animals lined up forming interesting patterns.
I was out at dawn in the summer, wanting to photograph waterfowl on the lake with the colors of the sunrise reflecting off the water's surface. In a small bay a great blue heron came in to take up its place along the shoreline. I took a series of photos of the heron coming in and landing and then taking its perch, in a period of about 10 seconds there are a series of photos in which the normally dull grey of the heron was a much more brilliant blue. I am assuming caused by the long rays of light at sunrise refracting through the feathers, but it is only my best guess.
This raven was hanging out at Athabasca Falls parking lot hoping to get a free meal from a visitor. He had perched close by and allowed me to get a nice close up photo. The light reflecting off his feather gave an iridescent appearance.
